Chocolate Dip Cookies


4 cups flour

1 tsp. salt

2 cups shortening

1 cup powdered sugar

4 tsp. vanilla

2 cups quick oats


24 oz. semisweet chocolate chips

½ cup milk

Cream together shortening, sugar and vanilla until well blended. Add flour and salt and blend mixture thoroughly. Add the oats and blend. Roll with your fingers into walnut sized balls and place on cookie sheet to bake. Bake 25-30 minutes (until slightly golden) at 325 degrees.

To make the topping, melt (in microwave or double boiler) the chocolate, stirring in the milk until mixture is creamy smooth.

When cookies are completely cool, dip in chocolate mixture. You may then dip them (right away, while the chocolate is wet) in chopped nuts or chocolate sprinkles.
