Tamale Pie

1 pound ground beef or turkey

1 #2 can creamed corn

1 #2-1/2 can tomatoes, chopped

1 tablespoon chili powder

Salt to taste

2 cups yellow cornmeal

2 cups tomato or V8 juice

1 can pitted ripe olives

In heavy large skillet, brown beef or turkey. For beef, drain off extra fat. For turkey, you may need to add a small amount of olive oil for browning.

Add corn, tomatoes and seasonings to the skillet and simmer for 20 minutes. Gradually add corn meal, alternating with tomato juice, stirring constantly. Add olives. Pour into greased baking dish (13" x  9") and bake at 350° F for 30-45 minutes.

Near the end of baking, you may sprinkle grated cheese (Monterey Jack or Cheddar) over the top of the dish. Allow cheese to melt.
